When most people consider Habitat for Humanity, they think of building homes. Indeed, volunteering to construct a home alongside one of our partner families can be a unique and highly rewarding experience. Volunteers are needed year-round to assist with various aspects of home construction and our volunteers serve as members of our construction crew, or as crew leaders.

Construction Crews

All volunteers work in crews of up to five people. An experienced Crew Leader or the Site Supervisor is assigned to each group of volunteers to oversee and teach volunteers what to do. Volunteers of all skill levels comprise a crew.

Crew Leader

Volunteers with construction experience are always needed to help lead home construction and direct other volunteers. Potential Crew Leaders should have a general understanding of construction and good communication skills. Particular experience or skills can be needed depending on the project to be assigned.

Our house building schedule varies at different times of the year, to find out if there is a current build volunteer opportunity, contact Samantha Waldron at 740-592-0032 ext. 102 or email samantha@habitatseo.org. All volunteers are required to read the volunteer handbook, complete the Volunteer Profile and Waiver forms at the end of the handbook and turn in completed forms at the build site upon arrival before volunteer activities begin.

Please Note: Volunteers are asked to please understand that home-building activities can be extremely variable due to issues like poor weather, contractor schedules, equipment failures, etc. Last-minute changes sometimes occur due to circumstances out of the direct control of Habitat.
